Anyone would think we are a charity.
Have these people ever been landlords ?

I'm confused. The NRLA calling for Labour to give tax incentives to good landlords has made you angry?
I don't think the OP has thought this through either.
Appealing to landlords good nature instead of real pressure to help the ones who will struggle ?
As I said the ones who are selling up are not charities. It needs to be a viable business.
I mean they could be charities
That is obviously the way forward. Higher end lets run by corporates. Lower end by charities, trouble is non of that is set up to handle the volume. So making life harder for private landlords is hardly a good short term solution.
Of course it’s not but the only long term solution to the housing crisis is social housing or some form of mass non-private ownership.
Whilst tax breaks and even bunces, like the London LAs did in the 70s, to build more flats will only have short term effect on supply.
The previous government saw landlords as soft touch who they could easily rinse for additional revenue but it didn’t work as many just binned off the asset
Tax incentives would be good but we all know they can’t afford them.
The article only addressed the real issues at the moment by quoting the House of Lords.
Where is the pressure to reduce waiting times on court evictions to weeks instead of a year. To improve the bailiff service so it happens as soon as you get a possession order ? These are the sort of issues which could bankrupt smaller landlords.
Not every issue will be covered in every interview though and mortgage interest relief has screwed over loads of landlords.
And personally I feel like I've had about a million emails from the NRLA about court delays so it's definitely an issue they represent us on. Filled out a survey for one of their campaigns the other week for it as well.
