Do landlords care about the "Verified Tenant" premium option on Openrent

You get a little badge, that says you are verified, and it costs 10 quid. Are you more likely to be interested in an applicant with that kind of investment behind them?

I'd say a tiny bit as it would strike me as someone who is serious about renting

I would carry out my own ID and credit checks though

I'd say it helps slightly.

Sometimes you don't know that someone is a scam artist until a few back and forths. I'd say with a verified account you know right away they aren't a scam artist. It also shows you are serious and not just casually looking. I'd say it shows a certain amount of "I have my shit together" also.

Very marginally, in that it gives an immediate indication that the tenant is likely to be serious. But it is marginal and it’s not like it has any impact other than fleeting initial impression.

Yes it would get you to the top of the queue to review.

Two badges? I thought they were just a myth!

What about months deposit, 12 months up front with credit, estate agent and employment references for the last 5 years and a third badge or is it still a myth to get a decent LL

With all that you might just get a viewing! Joke obviously, I never take upfront as it isn't fair on people who cannot do that

Do they offer any guarantee? Any indemnity insurance backed that?

I think it tells you that a tenant has a validated reference and their credit is not god awful. No you don't get guarantees

No. But if I see a badge I guess it provides some assurance that it's a genuine person vs a fake profile someone might have setup. But it's not essential because if you show interest in a property then some of those checks can be done as part of having conversation with the person on the other side. I certainly don't think it would influence the individual further up the eligibility criteria.

If I was going to use spareroom again I would spend the extra, it’s not much, I think it shows you’re serious and I think any edge you can give yourself is a plus
