Was this unreasonable behaviour as a landlord?

Was it unreasonable to give the tenant a runabout after two missed viewings?

Full disclosure - there was no contact beyond this thread other than several calls rejected by the tenant after the second missed appointment.

You’re both children who need to get a grip. He could have let you know about the cancelations for sure the hospital excuse is poor you can use phones in a hospital.

Playing him at his own game.. sheesh.

You can use phones but you don't normally have signal in them which would mean he wouldn't be able to send the text and when you have to go to hospital because of your wife sometimes your mind is only on one thing. Tenant has his priorities in place because his wife is more important than a reply at this stage. It's not like the tenant completely blanked ll he gave a reply

Can confirm, I work in a hospital and I even have 2 sims on my phone and can only get a signal by leaving the hospital and heading 100m past the car park. Wifi is a joke it takes 10 minutes for me to even get onto the staff wifi, let alone the public access points.

And I just spent the last week in Northampton and had phone signal 100% of the time and had no issues with my phone.

It’s poor form, yes his wife is sick, but it takes less than 5 seconds to send a text cancelling an appointment, doesn’t even need to give a reason just say can’t make viewing to emergency.

But that doesn’t excuse the landlord behaving like a child either

It’s poor, really poor.

We don't all get paid regardless of outcome.

For some of us time is money.

So why are you continuing to waste it by refusing to let it go?

Move on.

You don’t get paid for any viewing whether they turn up or not. And if you value time=money then why waste your own and someone else’s to be petty.

Might as well have shouted I’m a vindictive landlord on the street, you’d have got the same effect.

At the point at which he missed the second viewing you should've cancelled. There's no point playing his petty game, there's no winners.

I don't know, I felt quite content knowing he was late for work after making me travel for two missed appointments.

Tenant missed 2 prospective viewings. Arsehole.

You intentionally set up a viewing with no intention to go. Also arsehole.

Pretty simple really. You 2 are made for each other 😂

Being needlessly petty and personal in business is weird.

Thank your lucky stars! They've told you that they're going to be an unreliable tenant. In fact, you should probably be thanking them. Finding out this way is far easier that once they've signed and moved in and you have to pay £££ to get them out.

If you only turn up to 1 in 3 viewings you only pay 1 in 3 rents.

Both the A**hole.

Tenant is a dick but please grow up, said with love and respect. Both extremely childish. Your attitude in the first instance was a bit of a shock considering you hadn’t gathered what circumstances surrounded things yet and you didn’t apologise, is it not rich to expect the same from them? Both just seem unhinged and unreliable.
