Updating post from Reddit.
I’m doing a renovation on a HMO and wanted to get a bit of feedback from anyone who has used DIY kitchens.
We usually use Howdens but on paper the price from DIY kitchens is very competitive. I’m unsure of quality, delivery, plus the after services as we all know something will either come damaged or the wrong colour 🤣
Any feedback would be appreciated
the 10% uplift for getting them to build is well worth the money, if you are not experienced, and quality is far better than howdens or ikea, fitting is so easy, you just need a drill, screwdriver and spirit level.
A friend of mine has used them twice, 2 diferent houses 10 years or so apart, and his folks also ended up using them.
They are all very happy amd highly recomend.
From what i have seen they are the same or better than howdens.
Quality is very good, honestly a step up from Howdens if anything, and Howdens are already good. Would highly recommend.
The last kitchen I bought from them had some issues with broken corners on the larger doors, mostly looked like the warehouse goons throwing them around, but they got replacements out quickly and with a minimum of fuss. The replacements came using their own dedicated courier.
Haven’t used them personally but have heard positive comments from those who have.
Used a few times. The quality is good, holds up well, price (with the exception of pelmets, plinths&worktops)is good, and aftersales is good, though the lead time may be fairly long - especially for a replacement part as nearly all made to order.
My biggest gripe is that you have to pay extra for a set delivery day/time slot - otherwise the delivery could be anytime over 2 days and may possibly run into the 3rd day if yours is the first order loaded. Twice we've been given a Friday/Saturday delivery slot, waited around for 2 days, only to have the delivery turning up randomly on the Sunday.
On the other hand have also used Howdens regularly. Had no problems with the constructed units, items and replacements for common lines are generally available off the shelf. Plus there's nearly always a store fairly close to pick up a missing part that would otherwise hold up a fitting/completion date.
Why not use https://www.unitsonline.co.uk/ and then put your own worktop on. I just picked up 3 meter length of oak worktop from eBay for £209 (3m delivered). I don’t ever use laminate anymore, doesn’t last.
Used them a few times. Can’t fault them. Their fittings are also all German quality.
Their customer service was surprisingly good, came back straight away over missing item, no arguing, just sorted straight away.
Not been installed yet but delivered and inspected and it all seems very sturdy and nice.
I have done my last two renos with DIY Kitchens.
Both impressed.
My builder put them in, said better quality than howdens in his opinion.
My only complaint is my last order they gave me a free promotional dishwasher, didn’t tell me, didn’t remove the other one, so now I have a spare dishwasher for some reason. So yes, my main complaint with them is that I have something extra (logic says with their promotion they are supposed to remove the dishwasher I selected).
I do like their planning process and their feedback is really useful.
