Performing a credit check when a Uni is the guarantor

Looking to rent to an overseas student in a Tier 1 university. No UK guarantor available but their university offers a guarantor scheme.

How does credit referencing work when the guarantor is not an individual? Clearly there are no credit issues here but I am getting mixed messages on what the university is expected to provide to ensure compliance with my legal / rent guarantee insurance.

A corporate guarantor and rent guarantee insurance seems over the top. Rent guarantee insurance is usually a waste of time and money anyway. I would drop the credit check and do your own sensible due diligence (which you should do anyway as a credit check is only a tiny part of risk checking on a tenant - and credit checks don't extend to China anyway).

Agree it’s very low risk but legal insurance cover is usually tied to independent referencing…..at least that’s my understanding.
