Do council houses/flats need to follow the EPC rules that the private sector has to follow?
I'm aware that councils need to provide a valid EPC but it doesn't seem to apply when it comes to the actual rating. I was thinking about this because in 2028 the minimum rating for private rented EPC needs to be at a C. But councils don't have to follow this rule? Would this apply, let's say to if I leased a property to the council? Would I be able to get out of the C rule in 2028?
I don't think council flats have to meet MEES minimum requirements like the PRS. However, they do have to adhere to the Decent Homes Standard.
No councils houses do not have to follow the EPC rules. Why would the government eat its own dogshit.
