Unlicenced HMO.
Got what was coming to him.
The HMO safety regulations are written in blood and we should fully support them.
>After a three-year battle the 46 tenants, who used to rent 15 flats at two blocks in Hackney, east London, were awarded £263,000 by a legal tribunal, due to unsafe conditions.
> There are now concerns that Christodoulou may not pay, despite the order. The London Renters Union said the tenants had discovered that the landlord was attempting to liquidate the companies that the judgments are against after transferring ownership of Olympic House and Simpson House from one company to another within his corporate group at a large loss or undervalue.
> The tenants are now trying to obtain their share from the companies’ liquidators. But last week the tenants were outvoted at a liquidator’s meeting by another company owned by Christodoulou.
You can read 1 of the many rent repayment orders here on government website.
Just in case anyone was tempted to sympathise with this slumlord
>Cyprus-born Christodoulou, 59, is based in Monaco and, according to the Sunday Times rich list last year, has an estimated wealth of £2.5bn
Can’t say I’m surprised. You’re unlikely to amass that amount of wealth without being a shark.
DONT INSULT SHARKS
My poor blahaj
And now he's shell-gaming his assets and liabilities around his companies trying to avoid judgement. Even had the cheek to have the company with the liability go into liquidation while owing money to one of his own companies, which can compete with the tenants for liquidation monies.
You love to see it. Should have been more given how many tenants it was and how much back he probably made.
No mate if you read to the end the landlord is trying to get out of paying through all sorts of corporate jiggery pokery.
Yeah don’t love that part. Hope the tenants can get at least some of their money.
A judgement is one thing, getting paid out is another entirely
