Starmer needs £28k worth of renovations to his rental property to meet Labours new EPC regs.

Whilst this is indeed slightly amusing, the impact of Labours EPC proposals will have huge consequences across the industry.

Breaking news: landlord will need to spend an amount of money to meet a requirement that hasn't yet been defined.

Damn, I work in this industry and one of two things is happening here. Either the journalist is talking out their arse or they've got the 'quotes' from a conman.

To meet the stricter standards, Mr. Starmer’s property would need upgrades like wall insulation, with costs estimated between £13,035 and £28,235

What a load of shite.

And I bet the renovations will be funded by the taxpayer. Even though its a property he lets out for rent.

Based on what

Based on the fact that he's a politician. Or did you already forget the second homes scandal of a few years ago, to demonstrate how politicians will twist the word of the law, to serve themselves.

I’m sure somehow the taxpayer will be paying for it, so it won’t actually affect him.

It wouldn’t surprise anyone if this was true if there was some way for him to dodge it he would they are all the same.

Oh dear! I’m afraid to ask, so I’ll stick to safe ground. Do you realise that those three nouns, at which you lay the blame for theft are not proper nouns?

Do you have proof about this proposed stealing or you just love putting accusations out there until they stick?

I thought I’d start with a question which was easily defined and the answer to which was documented, before venturing into the fertile ground offered.

When a simple question is met without a simple answer, it does not bode well for the more interesting questions I was planning to ask.

Should I assume that you didn’t, and just leave it at that?

No im happy to add more

I may not be brilliant at Grammar, I'm probably not the best on Politics - but - and this is all I want to say - I think we are focussing on the wrong issue when we worry about £32k expenses - I think that the huge shift in the distribution of wealth in the UK that has happened since 2008 (well the 80's but lets not go too deepon a Tuesday) (and of which I am a beneficiary through my houses) needs addressing possibly with a wealth tax

Now I'll admit i'm not a debater - you'll easily beat me if we go tit for tat - I can't even get capital letters right - but these are the sources I'm reading and it just feels a bigger issue

Sorry if i'm wrong but please don't condescend or patronise as I will stop reading so if you want me to learn maybe tell me a simple reason im wrong

ps Also yes I believe Politicians should be honest of course - I just think we need to focus

A couple of sources of my angst

Im not a bad person - im not always right but I come from a good place - Ive also (and I know you'll have to take this on trust) played the system - I bought multiple houses when they were cheap as I could see that limited supply would lead to rises, I found a job that pays over £30k a year for 2-3 hrs work a day, I have a good life - im not simple much as my Grammar would say I am (believe it or not I went to a Private School that was £4k a term 50 years ago - my English Teacher would be livid)

So that's my fullest and best reply - if you choose to reply in the same spirit and teach me something I dont' know I'll read it and aim to learn

https://www.jrf.org.uk/narrative-change/changing-the-narrative-on-wealth-inequality - I love the intro "While wealth inequality is high and rising and causing immense social and environmental harm, public concern and political action are not keeping pace. Can talking about the economy, wealth, and wealth inequality differently stimulate public concern and drive political action?"

Do you find that being horribly condescending is a good way to engage in conversation?

The banks fucking up the country is exactly why there are so many private landlords. They spent years giving out loans to any pigeon that landed at their door until they realised they were loaning non-existent money. I don’t think many people here will sympathise with your message.
