Relocating to a new city. Need advice on how to rent from landlords. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hey guys,

So Ive been offered a job in Manchester and will be moving there soon. I have about 4 weeks to find accommodation, pack up and move. This is my first time moving out and so I'm bit nervous. I've been looking at rooms on spare room and Rightmove, contacting landlords but I haven't heard anything from them yet...

So I got some questions.

Do you think it's worth buying a ticket up to Manny to view properties? Or should I do a virtual viewings? I'm asking this because I actually went to view some properties a few weeks ago, but on the day two of the letting agents cancelled on me.

How does it work on spare room? Do I pay the landlord the deposit directly and sign a contract online??

What should I be looking out for when it comes to renting? Any scams, doggy things that landlords do, Information they may withhold.

Anything else I should take into consideration?

Any advice/insight would be appreciated.
